OPPOSING ISREALI WAR CRIMES IN GAZA: "
Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation Lilianne Ploumen has earmarked €750,000 for emergency aid to the people of Gaza, who are suffering greatly in the conflict between Israel and Hamas. This is over and above the €500,000 the government donated last week, also through the Red Cross.
‘In many places in Gaza, the situation is terrible,’ said Ms Ploumen. ‘Most victims are innocent people who have nothing to do with the conflict, including many children. There are shortages of everything. Outside aid is badly needed.’
There are currently 300,000 displaced persons and 6,000 wounded in the densely populated Gaza Strip. The area is facing an imminent humanitarian catastrophe. The Red Cross, which is working under very difficult and dangerous circumstances, is making an enormous effort, providing shelter to the homeless, performing medical operations and caring for the wounded."
